The Gauliga Obererzgebirge was one of the top football leagues of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV). It was created in 1923 as a spin-off from the Gauliga Erzgebirge and existed until it was reintegrated into the Gau Erzgebirge in 1930. The winner qualified for the finals of the Central German football championship .

overview

After the existing circular leagues as the top division were abolished in the 1923/24 season , the Gauligen were again first class. The Gauliga Obererzgebirge was newly founded, before the clubs played in the Gauliga Erzgebirge, which had existed since 1912 . The league started with seven participants and was increased to nine participants in the second season. The 1925/26 season was held once in two panels, the two season winners then competed in a final for the Gaume Championship.

In the course of a reduction in the number of Gauligen requested by the VMBV, the Gauliga Obererzgebirge was incorporated into the Gauliga Erzgebirge in 1930 and from then on formed the Obererzgebirge relay .

The VfB 1912 Geyer was able to secure the Gaumeisterschaft three times. VfB Annaberg 09 secured the first and last independently held Gaume Championship in the Upper Ore Mountains . The DSC Weipert , a German sports club based in the Czech town of Vejprty was also a member of the VMBV and Gaumeisterschaft was able to secure in 1927/28.

classification

The excessive number of first-class Gauligen within the VMBV had caused a dilution of the game level, there were sometimes double-digit results in the Central German football finals. The clubs from the Gauliga Obererzgebirge were among the weakest clubs in the association. Not once could the second round in the Central German football finals be reached, there were already some major defeats in the first round. 1925/26 of lost VfB Geyer the first round match against Chemnitzer BC with 0: 9th The DSC Weipert lost in the final round in 1927/28 against the Plauen SuBC in double digits (0:12).

In the Gauliga Erzgebirge, played together from 1930, the clubs from the former Gau Obererzgebirge could not prevail.
