FC Eintracht Leipzig - Central German soccer champion 1916

The Central German Football Championship 1915/16 of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs was the fifteenth season of the Central German Football Championship . Despite the First World War , this season, unlike in the previous year, regular games took place in most of the districts. With a 4-0 win over Borussia Halle , FC Eintracht Leipzig became Central German football champions for the first and only time. However, the German soccer championship did not take place due to the war.

mode

The clubs were divided into 23 districts (Gaue) in the 1915/16 season, the winners of which played the central German football championship together with the defending champion. In some districts, however, gaming operations were suspended due to the war. For various reasons, no representative from the Harz, Central Saxony and Vogtland regions took part in the Central German football final despite the game being played.

In the opening minutes, Eintracht Leipzig came up with a few torchanches, but they were not used. Halle also came on a few occasions, but failed because of the Leipzig goalkeeper Weber. After 25 minutes, Rölke scored the first goal with a free kick from 17 meters. As a result, both Heidrich and Kuntz missed chances to make it 2-0. Halle had a chance to equalize, but the ball was shot over the empty goal. The second goal for Leipzig came from a free kick, Heidrich converted the long shot in the 43rd minute. After the break, Halle was the better team, but with a cross from the right Heidrich increased his head to 3-0. Further attacks from Halle also did not lead to the desired goal. Kuntzsche increased to 4-0 in the 61st minute. In the last minute of regular time there was a penalty for Leipzig, but Lange shot it over the goal.

With this, FC Eintracht Leipzig won its first Central German soccer championship.
