The Central German Football Championship 1901/02 was the first championship played by the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs, founded in 1900 . First Central German football champions was Wacker Leipzig in the final against Dresdner SC . A German soccer championship has not yet been held this year. The Central German champions only qualified for the finals of the German soccer championship from the next season.

For the first season, the Gau Nordwestsachsen was created, in which clubs from Leipzig and the surrounding area, as well as Halle (Saale) played. 26 teams had registered to take part, which were divided into four classes. The Gausieger met the winner of the 1st class of the Dresden Ball Game Association to determine the Central German soccer champion

    The final of the Central German Football Championship took place on March 17, 1902. The winners from Northwest Saxony and Dresden were qualified. Wacker Leipzig prevailed and became the first Central German soccer champion.
