Guts Muts Dresden - Central German soccer champion 1923

The Central German Football Championship 1922/23 of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs was the 22nd season of the Central German Football Championship . This year's championship was held again in regional leagues, the winners of which met in a knockout round . By a 1: 0 victory in the final over the VfB Leipzig won Guts Muts Dresden for the first and only time the central German football championship. With this victory, Dresden qualified for the German soccer championship 1922/23 , in which the club was eliminated in the quarterfinals after a 2-0 defeat against the future German soccer champions Hamburger SV .

This year's Central German football championship was held for the last time in the 7 regional leagues, the winners of which qualified for the Central German football final. For the coming season, the districts were dissolved and the numerous Gauligen of the individual Gaue from then on again formed the top divisions.

The Elbe district was dissolved for the coming season, and the Gauligen Altmark, Anhalt, Harz and Middle Elbe once again served as the top football leagues.

The district league of Thuringia was divided into four seasons this season, the season winners played the district champion and participants in the Central German football final in a knockout round. For the coming season, the district league was dissolved. From then on, the top soccer leagues were again the Gauligen Kyffhäuser, North Thuringia, Osterland, East Thuringia, South Thuringia, Wartburg and West Thuringia.
