SC 1912 Zella-Mehlis

The SC 1912 Zella-Mehlis was founded in 1912 as TV Zella . In the 1916/17 season, the club was promoted to the first-class Gauliga West Thuringia , which was immediately won over. However, for unknown reasons, no representative from West Thuringia took part in the Central German soccer final this year. For the 1920/21 season, the club now played as SC 1912 Zella operating first-class in the Thuringia district league . After the dissolution of the district leagues in 1923, the club played in the Gauliga West Thuringia . In 1923/24 , the club was able to secure the Gaume Championship for the first time with a point ahead of SV Schmalkalden 04 . In the subsequent Central German football final, SC 1912 Zella-Mehlis failed in the first round with 0: 1 against SC 06 Oberlind . In the following season , the Gaumeist title was successfully defended, but for unknown reasons, the runner-up VfL Meiningen 04 took part in this year's Central German football final. The club continued to play in the top division of West Thuringia for the other seasons.

fusion

In 1929, FC 1905 Zella-Mehlis and SC 1912 Zella-Mehlis merged to form SV Union Zella-Mehlis . Already in the first season as a fusion club ( 1929/30 ) the Gaume Championship of West Thuringia could be won again. But also this year the club was eliminated in the first round of the Central German football final. The game played on March 9, 1930 against SV 08 Steinach was lost with 1: 4. In the following years, the club fell behind the local rivals and also fusion club SpVgg Zella-Mehlis 06 , but remained first class until 1933.

In the course of the Gleichschaltung , the VMBV and consequently the Gauliga West Thuringia were dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. No club from this Gau received a starting place for the first-class Gauliga Mitte , which was newly introduced from 1933 , the SV Union Zella-Mehlis was sorted into the third-class district class West Thuringia of the football district.
