The SV Einheit Kamenz is a sports club in the East Saxon city of Kamenz . In several sports departments he offers soccer, basketball, volleyball, athletics, tennis, gymnastics and bowling. The club uses the urban youth stadium with two grass pitches and athletics facilities as well as several sports halls in the city.

Club development

According to the sources, the roots of the SV unit cannot be clearly determined. The formation of sports clubs in Kamenz began before the First World War , when the clubs Sparta and 1909 Kamenz, Wacker 1911 and VfB Kamenz were founded. VfB was best known for the success of its soccer team in the 1920s. After the Second World War , as everywhere in the Soviet zone of occupation, all sports clubs in Kamenz were banned. Sports competitions were initially only allowed to be held at district level with loosely organized sports communities. Such sports communities also formed in Kamenz, from which the BSG Einheit and Empor emerged after the introduction of the system of company sports communities (BSG). The BSG unit as a company sports community of the state administrative institutions in Kamenz was founded on January 30, 1951. On June 20, 1959, the BSG Empor, the company sports association of the municipal trading companies, was dissolved and its sports sections were transferred to the BSG unit. After the political change in 1989 , the BSG system collapsed as a result of the changing economic conditions. In order to be able to continue the sports traffic in Kamenz, members of the BSG founded the registered association SV Einheit Kamenz in 1990 .

Development of the sport of football

The beginnings of football in Kamenz are only known from VfB. It developed into the leading football club in Upper Lusatia in the 1920s . From 1925 to 1929 and 1930 to 1932 he played in the first-class Gauliga Oberlausitz . In 1926 , VfB Kamenz became champions of the Oberlausitz football district, but failed in the preliminary round of the Central German football championship with 0: 7 at what would later become Central German champions Dresdner SC . In 1944 , VfB Kamenz was assigned to the Dresden Season 2 group of the Gaus Sachsen in order to determine who was a soccer player , but he withdrew his team before the start of the season.

In 1947 an SG Kamenz became district champion and then took part in the Saxon championship in the soccer district of East Saxony until 1949, where it twice achieved second place. In 1949 the sports community qualified for the second-class state league of Saxony, but was only 10th there and had to compete in the Eastern Saxony district class in 1950/51. When the third-rate district league Dresden was set up in 1952 after the league reform in GDR football , the BSG Empor Kamenz was one of the founding communities. She played in the district league until mid-1959 (since 1955 4th league) and then gave her place to the BSG unit Kamenz. The BSG unit held the class until 1964. At the end of the 1963/64 season, the team had to relegate to the Dresden district class as third from bottom. By the end of the GDR football operation in 1990, the return to the third division was no longer successful.

In 1960, the BSG unit won the Dresden District Cup with a 4-2 victory over Stahl Freital and thus qualified for the GDR-wide FDGB soccer cup competition in 1960. In the first round Kamenz had to play as a fourth division against the second division forward Cottbus and used the home advantage to a 3-2 win. For the next round too, the BSG unit with Motor Bautzen was drawn to a second division and had to play away. After a 2-0 defeat, Kamenz was eliminated from the cup competition.

In 1990, the unit had qualified for the Dresden district league, which was fourth in the DFB game operations at that time , and played there until 1995. In the 1994/95 season, the SV was bottom of the table after only five wins in 26 point games and was relegated to the seventh-rate district class at the time . Only in 2003 did the team return to the Dresden district league. The 2007/08 season ended the SV unit with 14 points ahead of sovereign as district champion and rose to the sixth class Landesliga Sachsen.

In the 2016/17 season, the unit was second in the Sachsenliga and was promoted to the fifth-class Oberliga Nordost , because no club from the Thuringia League had reported for the Oberliga. At the end of the 2017/18 season , SV Einheit was only in penultimate place, but after the abandonment of competitors FSV Barleben and SV Schott Jena , the Kamenzers took part in the relegation games for the league's whereabouts. After a 1: 3 home defeat, the 2: 1 away win at CFC Hertha 06 was not enough to keep them up; the SVE rose again after only one season in the Sachsenliga. The Kamenzers achieved the highest victory of the league season nationwide with a 13-0 win against the bottom SV Merseburg 99 on the last day of the match .
