The FSV Barleben 1911 is a football club from the unified municipality of Barleben, north of Magdeburg , in the state of Saxony-Anhalt . The home of the club with around 200 members is the sports field at Barleber Anger . The greatest success in the club's history was winning the 2014/15 national championship title.

After voluntarily withdrawing from the southern relay of the Oberliga Nordost, the first team has been playing in the Association League Saxony-Anhalt again since 2018 and has been coached by Christoph Schindler since November 2018.

prehistory

The history of Barleber football goes back to 1911, when the first sports club with a football section was founded. In the early years, however, the association did not appear nationwide. After the end of the Second World War , the club was dissolved in 1945 at the instigation of the Soviet occupying forces , but sports continued to exist. In the course of the reorganization of company sports on a production basis, the BSG VEM Barleben was established in 1948 , a company sports community to which the sports community formed in 1945 joined. In the years that followed, the club , which was renamed BSG Motor Barleben in 1950, recorded some successes. So one belonged from 1952 to 1954 and 1956/1957 of the district league Magdeburg . From 1957 until the reunification of the two German states, Barleben played for many years continuously in the district class, but in 1987/88 he was relegated to the district league. With the end of the GDR , BSG Motor Barleben was reorganized into SG Motor Barleben .

After the introduction of the DFB league system in East Germany, SG Motor Barleben found itself again at the district level for the 1990/91 season. In the mid-1990s, Barleber football returned to the FSA level with promotion to the national class.

history

In 1997 the footballers went their own way and left the SG Motor Barleben and founded their own club. In tradition of the first Barleben football team, they named the club FSV Barleben 1911 . At the end of the 2003/04 season, the FSV rose from the national class after many years of membership. Only the lack of relegators in the ear circle league prevented the further decline of the club in 2005. It was not until 2008 that the Red-Blacks found their way back to national football , and with a renewed rise they even made it through to the now seventh-class national league. Although the club had to accept direct relegation, in the year of the 100th anniversary of the immediate promotion to the Landesliga Nord followed. After finishing third and fourth, FSV Barleben rose to first place unbeaten in the Association League Saxony-Anhalt in 2014 . 2015 succeeded by winning the national championship in Saxony-Anhalt the initial rise in the league , so the club in the season 2015/16 was first active in the fifth-highest division of the DFB league system. In the new league, coach Mario Middendorf's team managed to secure relegation with ninth place a few game days before the end of the season, which was also achieved in the following season with a 13th place. After the third season in the league, the first under coach Jörn Schulz, and the renewed sporting league, the club withdrew to the association league for economic reasons.

Stadion

The club usually plays its home games on the sports field at Barleber Anger , which has a grass pitch (main pitch) and an artificial pitch. However, if there are games that require a higher security level or if more than 1,000 spectators are expected for a home game, these will not take place on the home sports field.
