The VfL Pünderich is a German sports club located in the Rheinland-Pfalz municipality Pünderich within the municipality cell (Mosel) in the Cochem cell .
history
Founded until World War II
The club was founded in 1919 as the Pünderich gymnastics club . On June 3, 1920, the entry in the association register followed. From 1923 a football and fistball department was added. The soccer department got some growth from the sports club, which was founded in 1922 on March 12, 1924 but had already been taken over. In 1925 a handball department finally followed . In the Second World War , however, all club activities came to a standstill.
post war period
After the end of the war, VfL Pünderich was re-established on December 28, 1945. The football department began playing again in 1946. The 1950/51 season could then be completed as district champion, which made promotion to the district league possible. From 1955 to 1957 Paul Janes could then be won as a coach. At the end of the 1961/62 season they became champions of the 2nd amateur league and were allowed to move up to the Rhineland amateur league. With 15:33 points you could then only place yourself in the 12th place of the West Season in the 1962/63 season, further complicating the fact that the league became single-track again for the following season, which meant that most of the teams had to relegate . This also included VfL .
Current time
From the 1990s the club played in a syndicate with the neighboring TuS Reil due to a lack of youth players . As this one could stay in the district league A for a long time. However, this had to be left after the 2010/11 season in the direction of District League B. Indeed, with 68 points, the championship and direct resurgence succeeded immediately. But you had to compete in the district league B again in the 2014/15 season. The SG was expanded for the 2018/19 season and has been called SG Mont Royal ever since. Which was then allowed to compete in the district league A. The SG is in this division to this day.
