Vicente Grisolía

Vicente Grisolía Poloney (born September 5, 1924 in Puerto Plata , † June 15, 2011 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican pianist .

Grisolía had lessons with Alicia Menard and Enriqueta Zafra and continued his education at the Conservatory of Santo Domingo with Paula Marx de Abraham , later in Rome and finally in New York with Hedwig Rosenthal . Here he made his debut as a pianist at Carnegie Recital Hall , appeared in New York's Steinway Hall and on television in Puerto Rico.

With the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of the Dominican Republic, he performed the piano concertos by Chopin , Liszt and Beethoven . For several years he appeared with the violinist Jacinto Gimbernard in the classic program Música de los Grandes Maestros on Dominican television. For four years he formed a duo with the pianist Elila Mena , dedicated to the performance of works by Dominican composers. The collaboration resulted in u. a. an album with compositions by Luís Rivera . In addition, Grisolía worked for many years as a professor of piano at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música .
