Pier Francesco Orsini , also known as Vicino Orsini (* July 4, 1523 , † January 28, 1585 ), was an Italian nobleman from the Orsini family .

Life

Orsini was initially an officer and politician in the environment of Pope Paul III. In 1542 Orsini took over the county of Bomarzo , which his father had previously held. In 1544 he married Giulia Farnese († 1564), a relative of the Pope, not to be confused with his grandmother (maternal) Giulia Farnese .

In 1557, Orsini witnessed a battle between the Pope and the city of Montefortino , which ended in a massacre of civilians, whereupon Orsini ended his military and political career.

As a result, Orsini worked as a philosopher and, with his wife, as a patron . So he had the Parco dei Mostri built in Bomarzo .
