Victor Fleischer

Victor Fleischer (born December 9, 1882 in Komotau , † 1951 in London ) was an Austrian art historian , writer and publisher.

Life

Victor Fleischer, son of a doctor and brother of Max Fleischer (1880–1941), studied philosophy and art history in Leipzig, Munich and Vienna. He received his doctorate from the University of Vienna in 1905 . He then worked in Vienna as archivist for the Prince of Liechtenstein. He had been friends with Stefan Zweig and Alberto Stringa since his student days . From 1910 he lived in Berlin. In 1920 he received the Bauernfeld Prize . In 1920 he founded the Frankfurter Verlags-Anstalt in Frankfurt am Main , which he directed until 1925. After their merger with Julius Bard Verlag, he lived again in Berlin, from where he emigrated to London.

He was married to the actress and director Leontine Sagan (1889–1974).
