Victor Kahn
Victor Kahn ( Russian Виктор Кан ; born January 18, 1889 in Moscow , † October 6, 1971 in Nice ) was a French chess player of Russian origin.
Kahn left Russia in the first half of the 1910s and settled in France in 1919, having lived in Sweden, Denmark and Germany for a while. In 1930 he received French citizenship. Kahn won the French championship in 1934 and took part with France in the 1931 , 1933 , 1935 and 1939 Chess Olympiads . At the unofficial Chess Olympiad in 1924 , he started as a representative of Russia. Kahn played for the Nice Alekhine club . Its highest historical rating was 2440 in April 1936.
Kahn wrote the works La défense du fianchetto dame , La pratique moderne des ouvertures dans la partie d'échecs , La conduite de la partie d'échecs and (each together with Georges Renaud ) de Les Echecs , L'Art de Faire Mat , Les Six Candidats au Championnat du Monde , La Partie Espagnole and Les Echecs dans le Monde 1951 . He also worked as a chess referee and headed the French individual championships several times after the Second World War.
