Sanovec became known for large-format fabric works in the 1980s . They consist of strips of fabric reinforced with multiple layers of colors, which are folded and hung according to the geometric principle of the same surfaces. The works are painted on both sides, but not all sides are visible. He gives his work a three-dimensional quality through strong application of paint and folds . In both his fabric and paper works, Sanovec is primarily concerned with opposites and their connection. Working with color and space developed the artist's interest in the landscape and its design by people. From 1996 to 2001 Victor Sanovec staged the EU landscape project Rheingarten in Oberwesel together with Barbara Fuchs .
