Victor Frédéric Verrimst (born November 29, 1825 in Paris , † January 16, 1893 in Houilles ) was a French double bass player, organist and composer. Verrimst was a Belgian citizen.

Live and act

Verrimst, whose father came from Lokeren in Belgium, studied double bass at the Conservatoire de Paris with Louis François Chaft (also Chatt ), harmony with Antoine Elwart and counterpoint with Simon Leborne . He worked as a double bass player at the Opéra-Comique and later at the Paris Opera and at the Société des concerts du Conservatoire .

From 1853 he taught counterpoint at the Conservatoire de Paris. At the same time he became organist alongside Pierre-Edmond Hocmelle at the Church of St-Thomas d'Aquin . Since 1860 he has held the position of organist at the Church of St-Bernard . Verrimst composed several church music works, including a Mass de Requiem .
