Victoria Kalima

Victoria Kalima (born October 4, 1972 ; † June 11, 2018 in Lusaka ) was a Zambian politician of the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) and the Patriotic Front (PF).

Life

Victoria Kalima, who completed a degree in management with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), worked as a manager at Plan Agri-chem Services in Lusaka . In 2014 she was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly of Zambia in a by-election in the constituency of Kasenengwa for the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) . Initially she was a backbencher and then between January 2015 and May 2016 she was a member of both the Committee on Legal and Government Affairs, Human Rights, Equal Rights and Children's Affairs and the Committee on Government Insurance. After switching to the Patriotic Front (PF) in the meantime, she was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly in the elections on August 11, 2016 in her constituency of Kasenengwa .

Shortly after her election, Victoria Kalima was appointed Minister for Equality in his cabinet by President Edgar Lungu in September 2016 .
