Vidoje Blagojevic

Vidoje Blagojević ( Serbian - Cyrillic Видоје Благојевић ; born June 22, 1950 in Bratunac , Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian Serb who took part in the Srebrenica massacre and was therefore wanted internationally. During the Bosnian War , Blagojević rose to the top ranks of the Vojska Republike Srpske , the army of the Republika Srpska . He was in command of the Bratunac Brigade.

He was arrested on August 10, 2001 and extradited to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague . He has been charged with participating in genocide , crimes against humanity and violating international laws aimed at protecting civilians. Together with co-defendant Dragan Jokić , he pleaded innocent. In the first instance judgment, Blagojević was sentenced on January 17, 2005 to a prison term of 18 years. In the second instance, the judgment was reduced to 15 years on May 9, 2007. Blagojević was acquitted of the charge of genocide.
