Vieburger wood

The Vieburger wood is a forest of almost 70 hectares in the Gaarden-Süd and Kronsburg district of Kiel , which is located on the Hornheimer Riegel terminal moraine .

The northernmost part of the forest is a dog walking area , on the edge of which is the Kiel television tower .

In the wood there is the former "Hofanlage" Vieburg, today a natural monument . In addition to an avenue of lime trees, a peace oak and a three- trunk plane tree are protected .

The demonstrations for the Kiel sailors' uprising began on November 3, 1918 on the parade ground of the Vieburger wood.

The remains of a bunker can also be found in the forest.
