The Viedma Glacier is a large outlet glacier that is fed by the Campo de Hielo Sur - ice cap on the southern tip of South America .
The glacier is located in Patagonia in the undefined border area between Argentina and Chile and is considered by both countries as their sovereign territory. On the Argentine side, it is included in the Los Glaciares National Park , which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 . From a Chilean point of view, the entire glacier belongs to the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park . The two-kilometer-wide moraine-rich glacier front flows into the Argentine glacial lake Lago Viedma , which is mainly fed by the meltwater of the Viedma glacier. The 35 kilometer long Viedma Glacier is one of 48 outlet glaciers of the Campo de Hielo Sur ice cap and covers an area of approx. 575 km².
