Viktor Achter (entrepreneur)

Paul Viktor Achter (born September 11, 1874 in Rheydt ; † October 30, 1957 in Mönchengladbach ) was a German entrepreneur.

Career

After graduating from high school, Achter attended the textile school in Mülheim an der Ruhr and then gained practical experience in fabric production in various German cities. In 1899 he founded the full cloth factory Achter & Ebels in Mönchengladbach . He later joined the company with an artificial wool factory, a mongoose spinning mill, a dye works and a weaving mill. From small beginnings, the company grew to a workforce of over 1300 workers by the early 1950s.

In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, Achter was active in several professional organizations. He was chairman of the cloth industry in Mönchengladbach and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as chairman of various industry associations.

He was married to Mia Achter geb. Schaub. His son Viktor (1905–1981) was a legal historian and an adjunct professor at the University of Cologne.
