Viktor Heissler

Viktor Johann Heissler (also Heiszler and Heissler ; born November 26, 1901 in Lobnig , Moravia , † May 23, 1966 in Hanover ) was a German engineer and university professor .

Life

In 1933 he passed his second state examination for surveying engineering at the German Technical University in Brno . In 1935 he became an assistant there, and in 1940 he was given a teaching position . In 1943 he became surveying commissioner for the state authority.

From 1945 to 1948 he was an assistant at the Geodetic Institute of the Technical University of Hanover , where he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD . In 1952 he was given a teaching position at the University of Göttingen . Finally he qualified as a professor in 1953 at the TH Hannover for cartography , topography and photogrammetry .

In 1957 the department for topography and cartography at the Geodetic Institute of the TH Hannover was set up under the direction of Heissler, who was therefore appointed as an associate professor. In 1963 the department was converted into the independent chair for topography and cartography, which he held until his death.
