Viktor Herbert Pöttler
Viktor Herbert Pöttler (born December 21, 1924 in Langegg ; † August 7, 2013 ) was an Austrian folklorist, university professor and founder of the Austrian Open-Air Museum in Stübing in Styria .
Life
Viktor Herbert Pöttler studied German , history, philosophy and folklore with Viktor Geramb from 1945 to 1948 . From 1948 to 1949 he was a volunteer with Geramb at the Styrian Folklore Museum. From 1949 to 1952, Pöttler was head of basic research for the Tyrolean farmhouse at the Tyrolean provincial government. From 1952 to 1961 he was a consultant for the rural advanced training schools in Styria.
In 1961, Pöttler began scientific and organizational work on the establishment of the Austrian Open-Air Museum in Stübing, which was founded on November 26, 1962 by the Austrian government. Pöttler was the director of the open-air museum from 1962 to 2004.
