Viktor II. Karl Friedrich (Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Viktor II. Karl Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (born November 2, 1767 in Schloss Schaumburg ; † April 22, 1812 ibid) from the house of the Ascanians was a Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg- Schaumburg-Hoym.

Life

Viktor was the eldest son of Prince Karl Ludwig von Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym (1723-1806) from his marriage to Eleonore (1734-1811), daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels . In 1806 he succeeded his father.

Since he had no male descendants from his marriage, he was succeeded as prince by his 71-year-old unmarried uncle Friedrich , who died that same year and thus the Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoym line became extinct in the male line. The Anhalt property fell back to the main line from Anhalt to Bernburg. The possessions in Nassau, the county of Holzappel with Schaumburg, inherited Viktor's eldest daughter, who brought them to the House of Austria. The Anhalt holdings of Zeiz and Belleben were the subject of a legal dispute that was only decided in 1828 in favor of the Bernburg main line.

Marriage and offspring

Viktor married on October 29, 1793 in Weilburg Amalie (1776–1841), daughter of Prince Karl Christian von Nassau-Weilburg , with whom he had the following children:

⚭ 1815 Archduke Joseph of Austria (1776–1847)
⚭ 1817 Grand Duke August of Oldenburg (1783-1853)
⚭ 1823 Prince Georg II of Waldeck and Pyrmont (1789–1845)
  • Ida (1804-1828)
⚭ 1825 Grand Duke August of Oldenburg (1783–1853)
