Viktoras Pranckietis (2016)

Viktoras Pranckietis (born July 26, 1958 in Ruteliai , district Kelmė ) is a Lithuanian agronomist and politician . He is a university professor and has been Seimas chairman since 2016 .

Life

As of 1965 learned Pranckietis at the middle school Tytuvėnai in Kelmė and from 1973 in the state farm - technical Tytuvėnai . From 1977 to 1982 he completed his diploma studies at the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija , today's Aleksandras Stulginskis University , at Kaunas and became an agronomist .

From 1982 Pranckietis worked at his alma mater , only briefly interrupted from his service in the Soviet Army from 1984 to 1986. From 1986 to 1991 he was assistant and from 1988 to 1991 vice dean of agronomy . From 1991 to 1998 he worked as a senior assistant at the university, which was then known as Lietuvos žemės ūkio universitetas . In 1998 he did an external PhD in biomedicine. He then taught again as an associate professor at the Aleksandro Stulginskio universitetas (ASU) from 1998 to 2016 . From 2006 to 2008 he was head of the horticultural chair and from 2008 dean of the agronomy faculty. In 2016 he was appointed full professor.

Political activity

Pranckietis is a member of Lietuvos valstiečių ir žaliųjų sąjunga , of which he has been deputy chairman since 2014. From 2015 to 2016 he was a member of the council of Kaunas Rajonggemeinde . In the 2016 election , he entered the Lithuanian parliament. Since November 14, 2016, he has been President of the Lithuanian Parliament as Chairman of the Seimas .

family

Viktoras Pranckietis has been married since 1983. His wife Irena is an associate professor at the Institute for Agro-Ecosystems and Soil Sciences at the Aleksandro Stulginskio universitetas . The son Vaidotas (* 1984) is an entrepreneur, the daughter Viktorija (* 1987) is a PR specialist and the daughter Monika is a graduate of the Agronomy Faculty of ASU. The family lives in Ringaudai near Kaunas.
