Vilar is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal . The place, sometimes also called Vilar de Chamoim , is located on the left bank of the Rio Homem .

The local monumental pilgrimage site Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Livramento is regionally known

history

Presumably there was already a settlement here in Roman times.

The parish church was built in 1779.

Vilar was the seat of a parish of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Terras de Bouro in the Braga district . The community had an area of ​​4.58 km² and 148 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
