Vild is a hamlet in the municipality of Sargans in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
It is located north of the village of Sargans on the former border of the Sargans Bailiwick . The ascent of the mule track via Matug into the St. Gallen Rhine Valley and the old Schollbergstrasse from 1492 begins in Vild, which is why there is a sust there . A customs post stood here from the Middle Ages until 1848. Three generations of customs houses are still preserved. In the 19th century, a salt factory was operated in Vild , as a warehouse and transshipment point for the salt from Tyrol . The core of the hamlet burned down almost completely in a major fire in 1892.

At the beginning of the mule track above Matug is the Vild Lady Chapel . The entrance to the Gonzen iron mine is in Vild .
