Vili Juhani Sopanen (born October 21, 1987 in Valkeala ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Rauman Lukko in the Liiga since February 2019 .

Career

Vili Sopanen grew up in Lahti and became a scorer at the Liiga club Pelicans there . In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round as 177th player. Despite this, except for the 2010/11 season and the 2017/18 season before his move to ERC Ingolstadt, he was only under contract with his home club, with the exception of loans to cooperation partners.

On June 11, 2018, he agreed on a one-year contract with ERC Ingolstadt , a team from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). In November of the same year he moved to the Schwenninger Wild Wings within the league . About two months later he left the Black Forest club and returned to Finland, where he was signed by Rauman Lukko .
