The Villa Besenbruch (also Besenbruch Villa ) from 1886 is a on the outskirts of Flensburg city located building where the civil registry Flensburg is housed. It is named after the Besenbruch family , the previous owners of the house. It is located on the slope of the Frisian Mountain at Friesische Straße 25 / corner Am Pferdewasser , directly opposite the Flensburg town hall , near the Luther Park .

The single-storey plastered building was designed by Alexander Wilhelm Prale in the neo-Renaissance style in 1886 . The villa has been owned by the city of Flensburg since 1986 , which initially planned the demolition of the building in need of renovation, which, however, was successfully prevented by citizens' initiatives . A squatting by women in the winter of 1990, with the aim of creating an autonomous, women-specific living space, drew attention to the vacancy and decay of the house. After conversion and renovation at the beginning of the 1990s, when the rooms were redistributed and a wedding hall was added, the Besenbruchvilla has served as the registry office of the city of Flensburg since 1992/1993 , where civil status processing such as marriages have been carried out since then .
