Vincentas Brizgys

Vincentas Brizgys (born November 10, 1903 in Plyniai, Rajongemeinde Marijampolė , Congress Poland ; † April 23, 1992 ) was auxiliary bishop in the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaunas .

Life

From 1921 to 1927 he graduated from the Sejny Seminary and was ordained a priest on June 5, 1927. From 1930 to 1935 he received his doctorate in canon law and philosophy at the Gregoriana in Rome . From 1936 to 1940 he taught at the Vilkaviškis seminary . On April 2, 1940 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Kaunas and titular bishop of Bosana by the Pope . Archbishop Juozapas Skvireckas of Kaunas was ordained bishop on May 19th. From 1940 to 1941 he was Regens at the Kaunas Seminary and from 1941 to 1944 Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Vytautas Magnus University . In 1944 he was interned by the Gestapo in Germany. As a council father, he took part in all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . From 1965 he was the pastor of the Lithuanians in Europe. He was a member of Ateitininkai .
