Vincenzo Scalera

Vincenzo Scalera (* in New Jersey ) is an Italian pianist and harpsichordist . He is known as a song accompanist.

Life

As a child of Italian-American parents, Scalera was educated at the Manhattan School of Music . He finished his studies in Italy and in 1980 was hired as director of studies and pianist at the Teatro alla Scala . He has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival , in Martina Franca , Jerusalem , Istanbul , Les Chorégies d'Orange , at the Carinthian Summer , the Salzburg Festival and at the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro .

He was accompanist of Carlo Bergonzi , Andrea Bocelli , Montserrat Caballé , José Carreras , Juan Diego Flórez (Salzburg 2015, 2016), Leyla Gencer , Vittorio Grigolo , Sumi Jo , Raina Kabaivanska , Katia Ricciarelli , Renata Scotto , Cesare Siepi and Lucia Valentini Terrani . Scalera currently teaches at the Accademia d'Arti e Mestieri in Milan .
