Lucia Valentini Terrani (born August 29, 1946 in Padua , † June 11, 1998 in Seattle ) was an Italian opera singer with a mezzo-soprano voice . She was best known for her interpretations of Rossini operas, such as L'italiana in Algeri (1978), La cenerentola (1980) and La donna del lago (1983).

Life

She made her debut in 1969 as Angelina in La Cenerentola at the Teatro Grande in Brescia and in the same role in 1973 at La Scala in Milan and in 1974 as Isabella in L'italiana in Algeri at the Metropolitan Opera . Other Rossini roles were the title role in Tancredi , Pippo in La gazza ladra , Calbo in Maometto secondo , Arsace in Semiramide and Isolier in Le comte Ory . Her roles in other composers have included Dorabella ( Così fan tutte ), Eboli ( Don Carlo ), Mrs. Quckily ( Falstaff ), Fenena ( Nabucco ), the title role in Mignon , Marina Mnick ( Boris Godunow ), Dulcinée ( Don Quichotte ) and Charlotte ( Werther ).

She died of complications from leukemia .
