Vincent Katzler

Vinzenz Katzler (born October 6, 1823 in Vienna ; † July 22, 1882 there ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

Katzler studied from 1840 to 1844 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts . After 1848 he made portraits and illustrations, among others for Figaro , Kikeriki , Hans Jörgel and the Leipziger Illustrierte. He is particularly known for numerous woodcuts and lithographs , such as contemporary historical depictions and motifs from popular life during the Austrian monarchy.

Since 1956, Katzlergasse in Vienna's 11th district Simmering has been known after the artist.
