Russula sect. Violaceinae is a section from the genus Russula , which is within the subgenus Russula .
features
The section contains small, fragile species with a resilient or compressible handle. The hat color is usually vivid purple. The color palette ranges from black-purple, carmine red, violet, olive to greenish. The lamellae and the spore powder are pale to dark cream in color. The pigeons usually have a strong, characteristic smell of saffron, apple or geranium.
The pigment is vacuolar or occurs in the form of extracellular granules, but is never encrusted. The cap skin contains more or less pileocystides, which are stained with sulfo-benzaldehyde, even if sometimes only weakly.
- The type species is Russula violacea, the green-violet blubber .
Systematics
In Sarnari the taxon is called Violaceae and is within the section Russula , with the subsections Consobrinae , Sardoninae , Urentes and Rubrinae as sister taxa. In Romagnesi , the Violaceinae also have the rank of a subsection and are within the Atropurpureae section on an equal footing with the Atropurpurinae , Exalbicantinae and Sardoninae .
The molocular phylogenetic tree confirms the Violaceinae as a well-demarcated taxon that is close to Chamaeleontinae and the Integroidinae from the Lilaceae section. There is no closer relationship to the section Russula, the Atropurpurae and the Sardoninae. In this respect, Bon's classification in a separate section Violaceae is confirmed.
