Virgínia Rosa (born December 28, 1966 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian singer .

Life

Virgínia Rosa grew up in São Paulo and gained her first musical experience in the band Grupo Lógica . She took guitar lessons from Luiz A. Rondó Monteiro , through whom she met Itamar Assumpção and then became a member of his group Banda Isca de Polícia . In the 1980s she became the singer of the group Mexe com Tudo for seven years , with whom she toured in Great Britain , Belgium , the Netherlands and France . For her first own album Batuque from 1997, on which compositions by Itamar Assumpção, Luiz Gonzaga and Chico Science can be heard in her own arrangements, she was awarded the Prêmio Sharp in Brazil as an important singer. Her second album A Voz do Coração includes recordings of pieces by Lenine , Herbert Vianna , Gilberto Gil and Chico César . In 2003 she recorded the CD Virgínia Rosa Canta Clara in honor of the singer Clara Nunes with pieces by the singer. She worked on the music for the film Bens Confiscados by Carlos Reichenbach with the title Sonho e Saudade . This was followed by the album Samba a Dois in 2006 and Baita Negão in 2008 , with the participation of Martinho da Vilas , in honor of the singer, composer, painter and actor Monsueto Campos de Menezes . In 2010 the CD Voz e Piano was released together with the pianist Geraldo Flach . The music of Virgínia Rosas playfully moves between the different musical styles of Brazil and modern elements.
