Virginia Huston (born April 24, 1925 in Wisner , Nebraska , † February 28, 1981 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American actress.

life and career

Born in Nebraska, Virginia Huston appeared on the local theater stage for the first time at the age of five. In 1945, the young actress was signed by RKO Pictures after agent Charles Feldman discovered her in a nightclub. Huston made her film debut the following year, starring alongside George Raft in the crime film Nocturne . As a result, she was mainly used as a "good girl" in dark film noirs , for example as the good- hearted friend of Robert Mitchum in the classic thriller Golden Poison (1947). Huston had one of her best roles alongside Joan Crawford in 1949 Street of the Successful , where she played the wife of a corrupt politician.

In 1950, she suffered a serious back injury in a car accident that left her bedside for almost a year. It wasn't until 1951 that Huston was back in front of the camera for Tarzan and the jungle goddess , where she played the jungle girl Jane alongside Lex Barker . In addition to her film work, she also had three appearances in the television series The Ford Television Theater . In 1952, Huston married wealthy real estate agent Manus Paul Clinton Jr., and the following year she retired from film. Her marriage to Clinton ended in divorce in the early 1960s and remained childless. Virginia Huston died of cancer in 1981 at the age of 55.
