William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme

Viscount Leverhulme , of The Western Isles in the Counties of Inverness and Ross and Cromarty , was a hereditary nobility title of the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The naming of the title refers to the surname of the first title holder Lever and the maiden name of his wife Hulme .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created on November 27, 1922 for the industrialist and politician William Lever, 1st Baron Leverhulme .

He was already on July 6, 1911 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom the title Baronet , of Thornton Manor in the parish of Thornton Hough in the County of Chester , and on June 21, 1917 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, the title Baron Leverhulme , of Bolton-le-Moors in the County Palatine of Lancaster , which was henceforth listed as a subordinate title of the respective Viscount.

The titles expired on the death of his grandson, the 3rd Viscount, on June 30, 2000, as he left three daughters but no son.
