Vitória Diogo

Vitória Dias Diogo (born January 31, 1964 in Fingoe, Maravia District , Tete , Portuguese East Africa ) is a Mozambican linguist and politician ( FRELIMO ). Between 2010 and 2015, she was Minister for Public Administration in the Guebuza II cabinet . Since 2015, in the Nyusi cabinet , she has been Minister of Labor.

Vitória Dias Diogo was born on January 31, 1964 in the village of Fingoe near Maravia in northwestern Mozambique. She attended elementary school in the provincial capital Tete , which she graduated in 1973. She then moved to Maputo, where she attended the Escola Secundária Francisco Manyanga and graduated in 1982. Until 1986 she studied Portuguese at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane , until 1990 she completed a master's degree in linguistics at Stanford University .

Professional career

After completing her studies, Dias Diogo worked in the Ministry of Tourism until President Guebuza appointed her Minister for Public Administration ( Ministra da Função Pública ) in his second cabinet in 2010 .

After Filipe Nyusi was elected as the new president in October 2014, he left Dias Diogo in the cabinet and made her responsible for labor, employment and social security ( Ministério de Trabalho, Emprego e Segurança Social ).

Private

Vitória Dias Diogo is married and has two children. She is the sister of the former Mozambican finance and prime minister Luísa Diogo . She is a believer in Christianity and speaks Portuguese, Cinyungwe , Xironga , English and Spanish.
