Vitali Manski
Vitali Vsevolodovich Manski ( Ukrainian Віталій Всеволодович Манський , scientific. Transliteration Vitalij Vsevolodovij Mans'kij ; Russian Виталий Всеволодович Манский ; * 2. December 1963 in Lviv , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Russian director for documentaries .
Life
Manski was born and raised in Lviv. From 1982 to 1990 he studied at the Moscow Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography , Camera Department.

Manski's particular interest is documenting life in regimes . Several of his films, most recently Im Strahl der Sonne , address freedom and its limitations. As a director, Manski has made more than 30 films. He also worked as a producer, u. a. in films by the directors Alexander Rastorgujew and Sergei Loznitsa .
Since 1996, Manski has been collecting amateur recordings from the former Soviet Union as part of a large-scale archive project . The purpose of the archive is to preserve the audiovisual memory of private life in the USSR.
