Vitaly Nikolajewitsch Potapenko ( Ukrainian Віталій Миколайович Потапенко ; English transcription Vitaly Potapenko ; born March 21, 1975 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian basketball player .

Career

Potapenko first played for the Ukrainian BK Budiwelnyk Kiev , before he went to the USA in 1994 and played and studied at Wright State University . After two years at college, he was selected in the 1996 NBA draft in 12th place by the Cleveland Cavaliers and played for them until 1999. His other NBA stations were the Boston Celtics , where he had his best time, the Seattle SuperSonics and the Sacramento Kings before moving to Spain in 2007 to play for CB Estudiantes .

After his career, Potapenko worked for various NBA teams as an assistant coach, including the Indiana Pacers . In June 2013 he is responsible for player development at the Cavaliers.
