Vivant is a Belgian radical democratic party . She advocates social security through an unconditional basic income , lowering ancillary wage costs and more direct democracy through referendums .

Vivant was founded in 1997 by the Belgian multimillionaire Roland Duchâtelet and has very little political significance. She received around 2% of the vote in the regional elections in Belgium on June 13, 2004 and was able to enter the regional and community parliaments through joint lists with the liberal VLD party of Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt .

Vivant East Belgium

The party is represented in the German-speaking community by Vivant-Ostbelgien. They stood for the first time in 1999 , but were only able to win 3.3% of the votes, which meant that they were unable to enter the parliament of the German-speaking community . In the election of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community in 2004 , however, the result was significantly improved (7.34% of the votes), so that Vivant-Ostbelgien was represented in parliament for the first time in the legislative period 2004-2009 by the brothers Joseph and Ernst Meyer . In the election in June 2009 Vivant was able to maintain his two seats in the parliament of the DG (7.16% of the votes), but instead of the previous MPs Meyer, who resigned from their office, Michael Balter and Alain Mertes were on June 30, 2009 as Members sworn in. The parliamentary elections in May 2014 finally brought another significant increase in votes for the party. With 10.62% of the vote, Vivant-Ostbelgien overtook the East Belgian Greens as the fifth strongest party in the German-speaking community. In the canton of Sankt Vith , one of the two electoral cantons of the German-speaking Community, Vivant even won 15.01% and only had to admit defeat to the CSP and ProDG , while they placed themselves in front of the established governing parties SP and PFF . For a third parliamentary seat in the 2014–2019 legislative period, the party ultimately only lacked 14 votes. In the parliamentary elections in May 2019 , the party won three seats with 14.81 percent of the vote.
