The Vizela ( Portuguese Rio Vizela ) is a left (south) side of the river Ave . It flows in the region of northern Portugal through the districts of Braga and Porto .

The Vizela has its source in Fafe County, near the municipality of Gontim . About six kilometers above the town of Fafe, it is dammed up into a small reservoir by the Queimadela dam.

In the vicinity of the municipality of Serzedo , the Rio Bugio and Rio Ferro first unite and then flow together about 500 m further into the Vizela. Then the Vizela flows in a south-westerly or westerly direction u. a. through the city of Vizela . Above the community of Rebordões , the Vizela flows into the Ave.
