Vizela is a city in Portugal . Vizela is known for its medicinal bath with thermal springs of up to 65 °.
history
The Romans used since the 3rd century BC The thermal springs bubbling here . A bridge has been preserved from that time. After the Suebi conquest in the early 5th century AD, the area became part of the Visigoth Empire . When the dioceses and parishes were established in 607, one of the newly established parishes was Ocullis, later named Caldas da Vizela (Vizela thermal baths).
In 1361 Vizela became the seat of an independent district as Riba Vizela . In 1372 an alliance treaty was signed between England and Portugal in the municipality of Tagilde. The circle of Caldas da Vizela was dissolved again in 1408.
The thermal springs were largely forgotten in the following centuries before they were rediscovered in the 18th century. In 1785, facilities for the use of the thermal baths were created again for the first time in Lameira with simple hut buildings. After some improved, but still very simple facilities, a royal decree allowed the district to build and operate regular thermal baths on site in the 19th century. The facilities built since 1870 and the Companhia dos Banhos de Vizela spa company founded in 1873 have since triggered significant economic and urban development.
In 1929 Vizela was elevated to a small town ( Vila ). The increased population pushed for the re-establishment of an independent district of Vizela, but the citizens' initiative MRCV ( Movimento para a Restauração do Concelho de Vizela , English: Movement to restore the district of Vizela), founded in 1964, was able to manage the authorities of the Estado Novo regime not convince. With the Carnation Revolution on April 25, 1974, the promise of an administrative reform came, but corresponding proposals regarding Vizela in the Portuguese Parliament failed . After further unsuccessful advances in 1982, the parliament decided on March 19, 1998 the elevation of Vizela to the city ( Cidade ) and the creation of the district of Vizela, which was celebrated by 6,000 residents of Vizela in front of the parliament building. The citizens' initiative MRCV also organized a big festival in Vizela with fireworks on the occasion of the fulfillment of its founding goal.

The place is home to the football club Futebol Clube Vizela, founded in 1939 . It plays its home games in the Estádio Futebol Clube Vizela stadium, which can hold 6,565 spectators . FC Vizela last played (2013/2014) in Série B of the third division, the Campeonato Nacional de Seniores .
