Vladimír Franz

Vladimír Franz (born May 25, 1959 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech composer and painter . He is also known for his full body tattoo . He ran for the 2013 presidential election in the Czech Republic .

biography

Franz studied law at the Charles University in Prague from 1978 to 1982 . After earning his doctorate, he turned to art, not wanting to become part of the "totalitarian legal system".

At first he got by with various jobs and was privately apprenticed to the painter Karel Souček and the composer Vladimír Sommer . He joined a theater company in Most , for which he worked as a composer, among other things.

Today Franz works as a professor, among others at the theater faculty of the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague ( DAMU ).

Full body tattoo

Vladimír Franz is tattooed all over his body including his face and scalp. According to the Daily Mail , 90 percent of his skin is covered. For him this is comparable to a self-chosen skin color.

Presidential candidacy

In 2012, Franz submitted his candidacy for the 2013 presidential election in the Czech Republic after collecting far more than the required 50,000 signatures. The tabloid press reported on the " tattoo candidate" worldwide . In the first round of voting on January 12, 2013, he was eliminated in fifth place with 351,916 votes (6.84%).
