from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volodymyr Mirtschawytsch Muntjan ( Ukrainian Володимир Мірчавич Мунтян , also Vladimir Muntyan written; * about 1972 in Dnipropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian preacher and founder of the Free Church Відродження Widrodschennja (German: Rebirth). Muntjan is well known in his home country and has a large following.

Career

Born in Dnipro, Muntjan is of Moldovan descent. Otherwise little is known about his life before the establishment of his free church Widrodzhennja. Only one conviction for theft and fraud was made public by the Ukrainian TV channel 1 + 1 . As a result, Muntjan was held in a prison camp in Kryvyi Rih for three years . After visiting evangelical missionaries in the penal institution, after his release from prison he attended their church services and their Bible school, whereupon he was sent in 1997 to establish a congregation in Pereschtschepyne in the north of Dnepropetrovsk Oblast . However, this congregation did not correspond to the faith imparted in the Bible School and was excluded from the church association, whereupon he founded another congregation in Novomoskowsk and in 2002 one in the eastern Ukrainian metropolis of Dnipro. After further growth in his free church, he founded a branch in Kiev in 2011 , which is now the most important congregation in his free church.

According to his own account, Muntjan was chosen and saved by God during a serious illness in 1993, and since then there has been a close connection between Muntjan and the Holy Spirit . Muntjan, who calls himself an apostle , promises to be able to overcome problems such as illnesses or marital crises with the help of the Holy Spirit. The donations raised made him a rich man. He lives with his wife and three children in a villa district in Nowooleksandriwka near Dnipro and owns a television station. Due to his popularity, he appeared on the most popular television show in Ukraine and filled the Kiev Sports Palace with 10,000 people for several days in a row . He calls these mass events crusades and again and again there are supposed miracles in which people lose consciousness and are then healed.

His success also took Muntjan to Germany with appearances in Offenbach in 2016 and in Berlin in 2018. 1500 followers gathered at his appearance in the Berlin Estrel Hotel in 2018. For 2018 Muntjan announced a record number of its so-called crusades, some of which will also take place in Germany.

criticism

Muntjan is silent about his financial situation, the donations went to charitable projects.

Western media are of the opinion that Muntjan is a fraud who wants to enrich himself through donations from his followers. In the meantime, Ukrainian sect experts are also concerned with the Free Church, and professional help is offered to dropouts. After his appearance in Berlin, the Berlin health authority advised believers to keep taking their medicine.
