Vladimir Popov
Vladimir Popov (born January 23, 1977 in Cahul ) is a former Moldovan weightlifter .
Career
Popov took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and finished 17th in the class up to 64 kg. At the 1998 World Championships he was eighth in the class up to 62 kg. In 1999 he was ninth at the World Championships . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he reached seventh place. In 2001 Popov won the silver medal at the European Championships . At the European Championships in 2002 he was fourth. In 2003 he was banned until 2005 for a doping violation . At the 2006 World Championships he finished tenth and in the 2007 World Championships Fifteenth. In 2008, Popov tested positive again and banned for four years.
