Vladimir Romanov

Vladimir Romanov (born March 12, 1964 in Moscow ) is a Russian-German composer and pianist.

life and work

After studying at the Moscow Conservatory , Romanov worked at the Bulgarian National Opera in Sofia , the Greek National Theater in Thessaloniki as well as at the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt and with the Klagenfurt Ensemble . He has lived and worked in Stuttgart since 2002.

His compositions, performed by the Stuttgart chorus , violinist Elena Denisova and sopranos Gina Sanders and Irina Gulde, include:

  • Chamber music works, most recently Concerto grosso in C minor (2010), Concerto in F major and Concerto in A minor (2011), Partita for violin in G minor (2012), Scherzo for violin and piano (2016)
  • Songs, including settings by William Blake ( Songs of Innocence and Experience , 2003) and Wolfgang Borchert ( Lohe in der Nacht , 2012)
  • the cycle Lena Lambert. Four poems for mezzo-soprano, violin, cello and piano (2016)
  • the musical Lieber Horton (2008, first version 1984), libretto by Elena Konson based on the children's book Horton Hatches the Egg by Theodor Seuss Geisel , performances in Stuttgart 2009–2012 and Böblingen 2016
  • the “opera mystery” Aqua. Terra. Aether (2010), based on the fairy tale The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen , world premiere on January 13, 2011 in the concert hall of the Stuttgart University of Music
  • December , based on the poem Der Dezember from Erich Kästner's cycle The 13 Months for mixed choir, mezzo-soprano, violin and organ (2016).

On April 6, 2014, the premiere of the one-hour oratorio Stabat mater for soprano, violin, choir and orchestra took place in the Liederhalle in Stuttgart . It was enthusiastically received by the audience. Further performances took place in Brig (Switzerland) in 2017 and in Auckland (New Zealand) in 2018 .

Romanov is a member of the Stuttgart artists' association NeckArs .
