The Voces Quartet was founded in 1973 as a string quartet in Jassy ( Romania ). Today it is the national string quartet of Romanian radio and television as well as a guest ensemble at many international festivals.

history

The Voces Quartet was founded in 1973 in the university city of Jassy in north-eastern Romania.

The ensemble's repertoire includes almost the entire literature of the quartet, with a focus on the works of Mozart , Beethoven and Schubert . It is also significantly involved in the first complete recording of George Enescu's chamber music oeuvre . The Voces Quartet has long been a sought-after guest ensemble at many international festivals , e.g. B. in Bayreuth , Istanbul , Bratislava , Saloniki , Jerusalem , Siena , Turin , Salzburg and Bucharest as well as the Harzburg Music Days .

In recognition of its artistic achievements over so many years, the ensemble has been named the National String Quartet of Romanian Radio and Television.

In 2012 the chamber music string quartet gave a master class at the University of Music in Würzburg .
