Vojtěch Říhovský

Vojtěch (Adalbert) Říhovský (born April 21, 1871 in Dub nad Moravou , † September 15, 1950 in Prague ) was a Czech musician and composer .

Life

After studying in Prague, Říhovský worked as an organist , choir director , violinist , violist and consultant for a publishing house. He was particularly known for his numerous compositions in the field of church music. But he also published entertaining music under his pseudonym VR Dubsky , whereby “Dubsky” can be translated as “from Dub [nad Moravou]” and this name should therefore be interpreted and understood as “Vojtěch Říhovský from Dub nad Moravou”.

Říhovský composed more than 300 works, including numerous masses and five settings of the Latin requiem .
