Volker Berresheim

Volker Berresheim (born March 27, 1956 in Siegen ) is a German diplomat who was ambassador to Togo between 2014 and 2015 .

Berresheim began after graduating from high school in 1974 in Trier , a study of business administration and the political economy at the University of Saarland , as he 1977 business graduate graduated. Shortly afterwards he started his own business and between 1977 and 1981 was the managing partner of a start-up company in the technology sector. He also worked as a research assistant and lecturer at Saarland University. In 1979 he also completed his studies in economics with a degree in economics and in 1981 also completed postgraduate studies in European integration .

In 1981, Berresheim began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after graduating from 1983 to 1985 initially worked as a consultant for Indochina in the Southeast Asia Department of the Foreign Office in Bonn , before he was political consultant and consul at the embassy in Indonesia from 1985 to 1987 was. In 2014 he worked for some time as charge officer ad interim at the embassy in Eritrea .

In November 2014, Berresheim succeeded Joseph Weiß as the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Togo . He remained in this post until he was replaced by Christoph Sander in August 2015. In 2017, Berresheim worked as the German ambassador in Djibouti .
