Volker Dietzel

Volker Dietzel (born November 9, 1955 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German author and director .

Life

In 1991 he founded the student cabaret group Staatstheater Arbeitslos , which has been called Theater Apron since 1995 . Dietzel works there as a director. He also works as an author of radio plays and novels. Further publications of prose works and poetry can be found in magazines and anthologies . Proficient in Hebrew and Yiddish , he also works as a translator.

Critical voices criticize Dietzel's insufficient examination of his work as an informal employee for the Ministry for State Security during the GDR . He himself told a local newspaper in 2010: “It has been over 20 years and I have repented.” His attitude is expressed in statements such as: “Everything about the secret service was extremely interesting, but on the whole not that great.
