Volker Enß (born October 27, 1942 in Kassel ) is a German mathematical physicist. He was a university professor at RWTH Aachen.

Life

Enß began to study physics at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg . Like Jörg Haasters , he became active in the Corps Palatia-Guestphalia in 1962 . When he was inactive , he moved to the University of Hamburg . With a doctoral thesis with Rudolf Haag , he was awarded Dr. rer. nat. PhD. After employment at the Ruhr University Bochum and the Free University of Berlin , he took over the chair for pure and applied mathematics at the RWTH Aachen . Enß is particularly useful for his contributions to the proof of asymptotic completeness in quantum mechanical scattering theory . He developed geometric methods which, among other things, proved asymptotic completeness for the three-body scattering problem.
